$2000 Grant Awarded for Carpet
The Garland D. Rhoads Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee has awarded the Cross Plains Public Library a grant for $2,000 toward the replacement of carpeting in the library. Last year, a storm damaged the roof and the carpet in the multi-purpose room was ruined. The board of directors used the insurance money to fix the roof and voted to replace the old carpet with a higher grade carpet and a darker color that won’t show stains as easily. They also voted to use funds from the Polly Lawson estate gift to provide matching funds for replacing the rest of the carpeting in the library.
The grant must be used within a year, so the board has been seeking grants from other foundations to provide the balance needed. Grant requests not only include replacing the carpet, but purchasing chair protectors, carpet runners and two area rugs for the Children’s Discovery Center.
We are so thankful to the Foundation and the Lawson estate for their gifts. Once we receive the remaining funding, we will order the materials and begin the project.
