"Lady Justice and Dr. Death" by Robert Thornhill

Lady Justice Series Book #6

Product Details

A new Dr. Death is helping terminally ill patients end their lives in Book #6 of Robert Thornhill’s Lady Justice Series.  In “Lady Justice and Dr. Death,” Kansas City cop Walt Williams faces a new dilemma:  is it justice or is it murder? Sworn to uphold the law, Walt is assigned to the case, but illness strikes close to home and he is torn amid the moral issues surrounding the “right to die with dignity” controversy.  We meet Walt’s half-brother Mark who, despite being an FBI agent, wants to enlist the help of Dr. Death to euthanize their dying mother.  In trying to locate Dr. Death, Walt’s band of senior citizens come to his rescue as he is kidnapped, trapped in a locker in the city morgue, thrown off the roof of a six-story parking garage, and hospitalized in a coma.

I enjoyed this installment as Thornhill once again tackles a sensitive issue in a well-researched and thought-provoking manner.  The author masterfully explores both sides of mercy-killing, doesn’t become “preachy,” and leaves you to make your own decision.  The book is an easy read for a cold winter day and I look forward to reading more books in the series.
