Do you ever decide to read a book or see a movie that you know might challenge your beliefs? I have always enjoyed a book or movie that tested my faith - how else can you grow stronger? Such is the case of “The Ark” by Boyd Morrison. This is a well-written thriller that will have you wondering whether the characters are looking for the real Noah’s ark - or just a metaphor. It is fast-paced and chock full of action - one of those books you don’t want to put down! But then, I didn’t read the book - I listened to the audiobook in unabridged form. It made a very long drive quite enjoyable and I liked that there weren’t a lot of subplots and characters to keep track of.
Everything centers on archaeologist Dilara Kenner and engineer Tyler Locke. A cryptic message throws the two strangers together and sends them on the run from madman Sebastian Ulrich, who is intent on murdering them before they can foil his plan to wipeout mankind - barring the few hundred in his cult which he has hand-picked to start a new and better civilization. Although a work of fiction, this book was well-researched and explores some fascinating premises of the how, what, where, and why regarding the story of Noah and the Flood. After reading this, I was excited to find that it was actually the first book in a series, so I will definitely be checking out the next book!
Author Morrison started his career working for NASA, and after earning a PhD in engineering, he developed patents at Thomson/RCA, then managed a video game testing group in Microsoft's Xbox division before becoming a full-time writer. He is also a professional actor, appearing in films, commercials, and stage plays. In 2003 he fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a Jeopardy! champion. He currently lives in Seattle with his wife. Morrison brings his expertise in engineering and technology to his writing - creating a credible tale that will leave you wondering if it really could have happened that way…
